About the Artist

Dillard Richardson knew early on he would be an artist. Working in oils, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic, he is a versatile painter.

Trained at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting and Drawing.  His work centers around painterly landscape, often working from life in both coastal and inland locations.

His style has developed from years of studio painting and plein air sketches into an improvisational, modernist expression of landscapes and seascapes charged with atmospheric times of day.

Many of his paintings reflect his love for music, and musical performance.  He is an experienced bassist, as well as an amateur drummer, discovering a dual pursuit of learning instruments along with the study of painting.  This has led to years of musical experience, which is focused into the many paintings and drawings he has done of musicians.
